About Us

Overview

The Ivan Franko Long-Term Care Home is located at 767 Royal York Road, in the heart of Etobicoke. The residence is ethno-specific and caters to seniors of Ukrainian heritage, with most of its employees being Ukrainian as well. It is a loving, dignified environment and home for seniors who need care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  The Home believes in the inherent dignity and worth of the resident, and in the right of all residents to live their lives to the fullest extent. The Home has three floors with 85 beds in private and semi-private bedrooms.  All rooms are air-conditioned.  

Our Goal

Our goal as a home is to optimize residents' overall health and wellness and enhance their quality of life. Through the provision of quality care, nutritious and culturally appropriate meals, and a variety of meaningful, enjoyable and stimulating activities that honour Ukrainian culture and tradition, we are able to do just that.

  • Registered staff on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Readily accessible emergency call devices at bed areas and bathrooms 
  • Physiotherapist three times a week
  • Physician visits at least three times a week
  • On-site Dietician
  • Behavioural Support Program
  • Palliative Care
  • Mobility devices service
  • In-house Pharmacy services through The Healing Source Pharmacy
  • Hairdresser on site weekly (additional charge applies)
  • Podiatry monthly (additional charge applies)
  • Dental services on site (additional charge applies)
  • Onsite chapel

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    1. What is a long term care residence?

    A Long-Term Care residence provides housing, hospitality, assistance with daily activities and access to 24-hour nursing and personal care.  

    2. How do I apply for long-term care?

    All admission and waitlist timing is managed and operated through the Toronto LHIN, which is legislated by the Ontario Ministry of Long Term Care. Please contact your local LHIN for further information..

    3. Is Ivan Franko Home accredited?

    Yes. Ivan Franko Homes are accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF International).

    4. What is the cost of accommodation?

    The Ministry of Long Term Care sets the rates for accommodation according to a resident’s class of accommodation. Rates are evaluated every July. See 'Admissions' page for more details.

    5. Are there washrooms in the rooms?

    No. There are communal washrooms on each floor, shared by 3-4 residents.

    6. Is shared accommodation available for couples?

    Yes 

    7. What furnishings are provided by the Home?

    All rooms are furnished with:

    ● A hospital bed, pillows and bed linen

    ● A comfortable mattress with a waterproof cover

    ● Adjustable bed rails

    ● Guest chair

    ● Night table and lamp

    ● Laundry bags

    ● Garbage can

    ● Dresser

    ● Closet 

    8. What furnishings and belongings can you bring?

    Any necessary personal belongings. For further information contact the Administration office. 

    9. Is air conditioning available?

    Air conditioning is available in all rooms, as well as public areas like dining rooms and lounges.
